About Criminal Investigations

The primary function of the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is to conduct follow-up investigations of reported crimes. These investigations consist of locating and interviewing victims and witnesses; locating, identifying, and preserving physical evidence; recovering stolen property; indentifying, locating, interviewing, and arresting criminal suspects; and presenting criminal cases to the District Attorney’s office for prosecution.

All Statesville Police Investigators start their law enforcement careers as uniformed patrol officers, and are selected through a formal process receiving additional investigative training as a result of their assignment.

Each Investigator with the Statesville Police Department investigates all types of crime from thefts, frauds, and break-in’s to violent crimes and homicides. This makes our investigators better prepared and well trained to provide a high level of quality and professional service to the Citizens of Statesville.

Investigators rotate in an “on-call” status to respond to major crimes after hours. The entire Investigations Division however, responds to all homicides as a team to insure that all of the Police Department’s resources are utilized to solve these complex and sometimes lengthy investigations.

Unsolved Homicides:

The Statesville Police Department is committed to bringing those responsible for the homicides of the following individuals to justice.  If you have any information and have not come forward, or know of anyone with information, regarding any of these cases, you are urged to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at 704.878.3515 or report anonymously by calling Iredell CrimeStoppers at 704.662.1340 as soon as possible
