Cross Connection Frequently Asked Questions
In 1974, Congress established the Safe Drinking Water Act to protect human health from contaminants in drinking water and to prevent contamination of existing groundwater supplies. This Act and its amendments require that several precautions be taken to protect our drinking water and its sources. To protect our public water supply, backflow prevention assemblies (devices that prevent the backflow of water into the public water system) are required for all businesses connected to the City’s water supply. These assemblies help protect the City’s drinking water from any back-pressure backflow and back-siphonage backflow.
To the customer,
You may use a certified tester from the City’s backflow certified tester list or you may contact the BFCC Coordinator to have a tester approved. You may also apply to participate in the City's Testing & Maintenance Program.
To the testers,
All results of backflow tests must be submitted to the City BFCC Coordinator's office within 10 days of performing your tests.
If you would like to be added to the City of Statesville’s Backflow Certified Tester List, you must fax, mail or e-mail the BFCC Coordinator the following:
- A copy of the tester’s certification card
- A copy of the test kit calibration certification certificate
- The exact company name or name of the tester along with a phone number
To keep you or your company on the tester list please remember to send the BFCC Coordinator any updated or new certifications for both the tester and test kits.
Any questions please call the BFCC Coordinator.
