Special Olympics of Iredell County

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic style sports for individuals with intellectual disabilities ages 8 years and older.  If you are not affiliated with a school or group home, you are still eligible and we would love to have you join us in our pursuit of sports and friendship.  For more information, please call or email us.

Sponsorship Opportunities

The Iredell County program serves over 350 athletes in our community every year in a wide variety of sports such as alpine skiing, basketball, golf, swimming, track & field, bocce, cheerleading and bowling.  The cost for providing this program is in excess of $15,000 per year.  Special Olympics receives no government funding and is not a United Way agency.  We rely totally on contributions from the local community as well as small fundraisers.  With your support, we will be able to continue to offer this worthwhile program for the 2013-2014 year.  Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution in support of Special Olympics Athletes of Iredell County.  Since athletes are never charged a fee to train or compete, your support is greatly needed.  Remember that even if each civic group and business contributed just $25 it would make a world of difference.  You can make your contribution by check, money order, or in kind services.  Please mail donations to Special Olympics of Iredell County, PO Box 1111, Statesville, NC 28687.  All donors will be recognized at Iredell County's Special Olympics Spring Games in May.

We currently offer opportunities in several sports including:

  • Bowling
  • Basketball Skills
  • Track and Field/Athletics
  • Golf
  • Alpine Skiing
  • Aquatics
  • Bocce
  • Cheerleading
