Iredell-Statesville Schools

With more than 20,000 students, Iredell-Statesville Schools ranks among the 20 largest school districts in North Carolina. Student performance continues to improve, placing Iredell-Statesville Schools among the top 25% of school districts in the state. In fact, our SAT scores, graduation rate, and writing scores are among the best in North Carolina. As a district committed to quality and a 2008 recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, Iredell-Statesville Schools serves as a model school district not only for other districts in North Carolina, but also across the entire nation. 
Students from The Iredell-Statesville School system had the highest average score on the SAT test for the 12 NC counties in the Charlotte Regional Partnership.  Iredell-Statesville Schools Superintendent Terry Holliday was named the 2009 A. Craig Phillips North Carolina Superintendent of the Year.  In addition, the Iredell-Statesville Schools received the 2009 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
The city also has excellent charter schools for K-8 and several private educational institutions.

Mitchell Community College

MCC is a comprehensive, open-admissions community college dedicated to meeting the area’s post-secondary education and training needs.
Along with Mitchell Community College, Statesville also has educational opportunities at a branch of Garner-Webb University. UNC-Charlotte is located 45 minutes south of Statesville and Wake Forest University 45 minutes east in Winston-Salem.
