City Bulletin

The Statesville City Electric Department is monitoring weather reports that are calling for a risk of severe thunderstorms and high winds in this area on Wednesday afternoon and evening.  The department is prepared to respond to customer outages on our system.  City trucks have been stocked and fueled and on-call personnel are prepared for after-hour events.

Statesville customers who experience an outage during the storm should call the automated outage-reporting systems at 704-878-3479.  This reporting system lets the City know the extent of an outage and its location.  You will receive an automated call when power is restored.  If your power is still not on, please call the number again.

Here are some safety reminders:

Check your supply of flashlights, batteries, bottled water, non-perishable foods, medicines, etc.  Also, make sure you have a portable, battery-operated radio, TV or weather radio on hand.

Consider all lines energized, including trees and limbs that are in contact with lines.  Stay away from power lines that have fallen or are sagging.  Report downed power lines to the Police Department at 704-878-3406.

If a power line falls across a car that you are in, stay in the car.  If you must get out of the car due to immediate danger, do your best to jump clear of the car and land on both feet.  Be sure no part of your body is touching the car when your feet touch the ground.
