The Statesville Recreation & Parks Department and Statesville Tree Commission are presenting the biggest Arbor Day Celebration ever on Saturday, April 13 at the Statesville Fitness & Activity Center.  This free event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and includes a 5K race and One Mile Walk on the Greenway at 9 a.m.

There will be activities for the whole family, including tree giveaways, the climbing wall and Green Fair vendor area.  Visitors will learn about local farms, and businesses and organizations that are at the forefront of practicing sustainability.

The Arbor Day Celebration is free and open to the public.

The Thorlo Classic Foot Health Awareness 5K and One Mile Walking Partners – “Walk the Walk” will begin at the Statesville Soccer Park.  The 5K begins at 9 a.m. and walk at 10 a.m.  Pre-registration is $15 before April 5 and $20 between April 6-13.  All pre-registered participants receive a race t-shirt and a web card redeemable for a free pair of Thorlo socks.

$100 prize will be awarded to the top overall male and female runner.  Awards will also be given to the top three in each age category.
