City Bulletin

At long last – it’s time to splash!!  The grand opening for the Statesville Splash Pad will take place on Tuesday, July 10 at 10 a.m.  The new splash pad is located adjacent to Bentley Community Center, 1410 Third St.  The public is invited to attend. Following a brief ribbon cutting and ceremony, the splash pad will be open for the summer.

The 2,827-square-foot water attraction will have a variety of spray features in the 60-foot diameter concrete pad.  The area will also have fencing, four picnic tables and two shade structures.

The splash pad will operate Monday – Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sundays, 1 – 6 p.m.  An attendant and bathrooms are located in the Bentley Community Center, which will operate during these same hours. There is no cost to use the splash pad.  To reserve a shad structure, contact the Bentley Center at 704-380-2600 for fee information and scheduling.

During the hours of operation, the water features are activated by pushing a button.  It is on a timer and will stop running after a certain length of time; but will begin again once the button is pushed.  Children under the age of 12 must have adult supervision at all times in the splash pad area.

Many of the City’s leisure pool rules apply to the splash pad: proper swim attire, required swim diapers, appropriate deck shoes, etc.  And even though the splash pad is a flat recreational area with little standing water, no running and rough play is allowed; nor are skateboards, skates, rollerblades, bicycles and similar recreation equipment.  More information can be found on the City’s website at

Statesville City Council approved the construction of the splash pad last November at a cost of $115, 000.  It was originally scheduled to open on Memorial Day, but wet weather and manufacturing delays postponed the opening.
