The only legal fireworks sold or used in North Carolina, without a permit, are those that don't fly through the air or go "Bang". All others are illegal, except when approved by the fire department and follow all codes and standards.

If you do purchase fireworks in North Carolina, please follow these safety tips:

Use the fireworks on a smooth, non-combustible surface.
Never leave children alone with fireworks.
Read and always follow instructions on the label.
Keep the fireworks away from your house and other combustible material.
Never attempt to relight a firework.
Never point or throw fireworks.
When lighting fireworks, wear eye protection.
Never place your body over the fireworks when lighting.
Only use outdoors.
Have a source of water nearby for sparks.
Purchase only legal fireworks that are sold in North Carolina.

The online utility payment system will be down Monday, June 8, beginning at 8 a.m. so that upgrades can be made to the system. It is expected to be back online by 5 p.m. Monday. During that time utility customers can access their utility billing information and/or make payments through the Interactive Voice Response System. That number is 704-878-3564.
