High winds and Statesville's bounty of trees met head on Thursday, causing numerous power outages throughout the City. Electric Utilities crews were moving from problem to problem, finishing up early this morning about 3 a.m. Many thanks to our crews and especially to our very patient customers!
Here’s an overview of the outages for April 6:
9:30 a.m. – a large tree fell across Chestnut Lane and caused an outage for about 75-100 customers for less than 2 hours.
4 p.m. – A tree limb took out power for about 15 customers in the Earlwood Rd. area.
4:15 p.m. – A large pine tree took out power at 329 Dunavant lane.
5:30 p.m. – A very large tree fell on E. Sharpe St. near S. Oakwood Dr., leaving about 1,000 customers without power. Crews back fed circuits in order to restore service to 90% of the customers by 7 p.m. It took another 8 hours to get the lines back up so that all customers had power restored.
And then this morning (April 7), a utility pole was hit in the 600 block of E. Broad St., but thankfully no major outages occurred.
If you were without power and correctly called 704-878-3479 to report it, but got no answer – it was because circuits were busy with all the calls. You did the right thing! Reporting an outage on the City’s Facebook page is not the most efficient way to let the City know about a problem.
