Statesville City Council will meet Monday night, March 5, at 7 p.m.  This meeting is not an opportunity for public comment.

The approval for the construction of the southeast parallel taxiway at the Statesville Regional Airport is set for Monday night.  The recommendation from the City's airport consultants is that the bid should be awarded to the low bidder, BMCO Construction, Inc., from Lumberton, NC., in the amount of $8,939,035.

Because the lowest bid is still $2.8 million over the grant amount, the consultants and staff have removed certain costs of the project to bring the construction costs so that the project can get underway immediately.  The NCDOT will consider a request for additional funds to complete project during their March 7th meeting.  If the additional funds are approved, a supplemental agreement will be prepared to add back in the elements of the project that were removed.

They will also consider approving $682,613 for the engineering and testing services of Parish and Partners for the taxiway project.

Council will consider approving the audit contract with Martin Starnes & Associates for $44,800.

City Council will meet in the Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall, 227 S. Center St.  The meeting is open to the public.  The Pre-Agenda meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the third floor conference room.  The regular meeting can be watched live on cable channel 20.
