HISTORIC VANCE HOTEL REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT

The Vance Hotel was built in 1922 and for many years served as the premier hotel for Statesville and the Region. Since that time, the Vance Hotel has has had a variety of owners and uses, with City Council voting to purchase the hotel for $475,000 in 2012.  Click here to read about the City's purchase.

For three years, the City has been working with Centralina Council of Governments (CCOG) and a local committee to guide the redevelopment of the hotel.  Council entered into a preliminary development contract with Richard Angino of Third Wave Housing to consider his proposal to turn the Vance Hotel into market rate apartments.  Angino's proposal involves a loan from the City of $2.6 million.

To get feedback on the proposal, the City hosted a community forum on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, in the Statesville Civic Center.  More than 300 people attended.

Currently, CCOG is compiling the feedback forms to present at City Council's retreat on Thursday, Feb. 15.
