Consent Agenda:
Wes Davidson was appointed to fill an unexpired term for the Statesville Convention & Visitors Bureau.
SPD approved to accept grant from the Bureau of Justice Assistance Local Funding.
SPD granted permission to apply for the 2023 DOJ Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) hiring program to hire four sworn police officers.
Granted staff permission to apply for a Federal Historic Preservation Grant to support services for a National Registry Nomination for the Garfield/Green Street area.
Authorized staff to initiate an upset bid process for property located on Lakeside Drive between Sullivan Road and Restmore Lane.
Approved a Resolution of Intent to permanently close a portion of right-a-way on Wall Street and set the public hearing for the May 15th Council meeting.
Approved a special event permit application from Purple Heart Homes and Centralina Realty to close West Broad Street between Mulberry and Kelly Streets on Saturday, May 6th from 12:30-8:30pm for the Purple Heart Homes Charity Ride.
Regular Agenda:
Approved an economic incentive for Sherwin Williams in the amount of up to $9,149,214 at 80% of real and personal property tax assessment over seven years. The incentive is based on an investment by Sherwin Williams in the amount of up to $347,064,900, and the minimum creation of 75 jobs by 12/2025.
Approved first reading of a request from Sherwin Williams to annex property located at 188 Sidetrack Drive.
Approved first reading of a request from Holland Farms/Taycora Capital to annex approximately 43 acres of property located on Taylorsville Hwy for industrial use.
Approved first reading of a request from True Homes to annex property know as Larkin Front 9 on Whites Mill Road for medium density multi-family residential.
CM Ron Smith gave an overview of grants that the City is currently pursuing and those the City intends to pursue.
Approved a General Fund Balance Policy.
City Manager’s Report:
Arbor Day Celebration featuring Touch a Truck, Shred Event, and Fun-K will be on Saturday, April 15 from 10am-2pm at the Statesville Soccer Complex.
Recreation & Parks will be hosting 2 egg hunts this week:
- Tuesday, April 4th at the Soccer Complex from 4:30-6:30pm
- Thursday, April 6th at Harris Park from 4:30-6:30pm
Speed humps were installed last week on Park, Elm, and Bost Streets. The stripes were painted today.
