About Criminal Investigations
The primary function of the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is to conduct follow-up investigations of reported crimes. These investigations consist of locating and interviewing victims and witnesses; locating, identifying, and preserving physical evidence; recovering stolen property; identifying, locating, interviewing, and arresting criminal suspects; and presenting criminal cases to the District Attorney's office for prosecution.
All Statesville Police Investigators start their law enforcement careers as uniformed patrol officers, and are selected through a formal process receiving additional investigative training as a result of their assignment.
Investigators rotate in an "on-call" status to respond to major crimes after hours. The entire Investigations Division however, responds to all homicides as a team to insure that all of the Police Department's resources are utilized to solve these complex and sometimes lengthy investigations.
