Posted on 01/07/2021
Winter truck updateThe Statesville Street crews are watching over the streets tonight and into the weekend to make sure they are as safe as possible for traveling.

When necessary, the crews put sand on the roads to help with traction.  They aren't able to apply sand on all the streets, but try to get the main thoroughfares, bridges, exit ramps and well-known "cold spots".

BRINE & SAND PRIORITY LIST

The City will clear streets if enough snow has fallen (2 inches), but primarily depends on Mother Nature to help melt any frozen precipitation.

SANITATION: Garbage pick-up ran on a regular schedule.

Leaf and yard waste pick-up is suspended temporarily until the weather improves.

It helps electric utilities crew locate the problem quicker and get your power back on! Be sure to provide your phone number so that you can be contacted when power is restored.

TRAVELING:  Travelers are reminded to be on the lookout for possible icy patches due to freezing temperatures overnight. City crews will use salt and sand to treat any spots on the road that might cause trouble.
