Posted on 03/11/2022
City HallDiscussions on the distribution of ARPA funds will continue this Tuesday, March 15, in the second floor conference room of City Hall at 11:30 a.m.  The meeting is open to the public.

At the March 1st meeting, Council reviewed the recent grants and the plan so far:
$20 million allocation from the State to spend on the Water Line Project.
$3.2 million from the state for roads
Possible $3 million from Iredell County grants

The City's ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) allocation is $8.7 million.  Already, $1 million was used to pay city employees "premium pay" and $400,000 for a new position - Grant Manager.  The funding is for a four-year period.

Council was given a list of potential projects and capital requests and asked staff to research what potential grant matches could be used on any of these items.

Council also agreed to seek public input once priorities have been specified.
