About the Statesville Police Department
Our department is located at 330 S. Tradd Street, one block from the U.S. 21 and N.C. 115 intersection. Statesville is located in the Western Piedmont area of the state near the center of Iredell County. Two major interstates, I-40 and I-77, intersect within the city limits as do three U.S. highways. Two large metropolitan areas are located within 40 miles, Charlotte to the south and Winston Salem to the east.
Statesville's 85 sworn officers, 25 civilians serve approximately 28,500 residents within an area of 24.9 square miles. The department is made up of four patrol squads including four K-9's, four Traffic Units, Criminal Investigations, Community Impact, Professional Standards, Records, Communications, and Administration. Specialty areas include Narcotics, Community Oriented Policing officers (COPS), Police Negotiation Team, and Special Response Team (SRT).
Our officers are under the authority of the Statesville City Manager with certain aspects subject to the approval of the Statesville Civil Service Board.

CALEA Accreditation
The Statesville Police Department is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. CALEA was created in 1979 as a credentialing authority through the joint efforts of law enforcement's major executive associations. The Law Enforcement Accreditation process focuses on standards that provide the best practices related to life, health, and safety procedures for the agency. These standards are considered foundational for contemporary law enforcement agencies.
