WINTER WEATHER PREPARATIONS & UPDATES
Be prepared for a power outage:
When a Power Outage Occurs:
- If you are a Statesville Electric Utilities customer, report the outage to 704-878-3479 – Stay on the line and be sure to give your address and phone number, and indicate that you want to be notified when power is restored.
- If you are a Statesville Water customer, your water will not be disrupted.
- If your power goes out, make sure that all items in use at the time of the outage (i.e., TV, stove, computer) are switched off.
- Do not call 911 to report a power outage. Do call 911 if you see downed lines sparking.
Restoring Power:
- City Electric crews will begin restoring power as soon as it is safe to do so.
- The procedure for restoring power is to repair the lines that will get the most customers back up and to make sure the hospital has power.
- Often, an ice storm causes lots of scattered outages. It takes longer to get everybody’s power back on because there are individual lines that are down that impact a smaller amount of people.
- Other Public Power Electric Utilities, not expected to be impacted by the storm, are on standby to assist Statesville with repairs, if needed.
- Please be patient and know that we are working hard to restore power.
Monitoring the Power Outage:
Regular updates will be posted on the City’s website, Facebook page and Twitter, and provided to local media
