The community is invited to help welcome the new vehicle at a public push-in ceremony on Monday, Nov. 18, at 4:30 p.m. at Station One, 316 S. Meeting St. There will be refreshments and the opportunity to tour the new vehicle.

Statesville City Council has approved the construction of a new municipal services building on Shelton Ave. which will be used as the headquarters for the Statesville Police Department. Council must now decide how to pay for the $11 million project. One option is to finance the costs through an installment financing agreement. A public hearing will be held on Monday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. to allow the public to comment on the proposed agreement.

Statesville City Council approved a resolution honoring the 40+ veterans who work for the City of Statesville at a recent Council meeting. This is the first year in recent history that the City will close its offices in observance of Veterans Day on Monday, Nov. 11. There will be no garbage collection on that day. The revised schedule has been released.

The City of Statesville encourages neighborhoods, organizations and others that may have events planned for Halloween evening to monitor weather forecasts and plan accordingly.

Power Nearly All Restored

Good news. All 36 of Statesville’s circuits are back up and less than 500 customers are without power as of 10 p.m. Thursday. Crews will continue working during the night on some primary tap lines that are out, but the remainder of the work involves services to individual homes and buildings. With good weather, the City should have power restored to all customers capable of receiving power by close of business Friday.
