In the aftermath of Wednesday’s severe storm and the damage to public and private property, Statesville Mayor Costi Kutteh has declared a state of emergency for Statesville.

According to City Manager Ron Smith, he and the Mayor consulted with City and County staff, as well as Iredell Emergency Management officials in preparation for making the declaration.  “This is a level two declaration which applies to a multi-day cleanup with multiple agencies,” explained Smith.

“The City is being proactive to ensure that if the City is eligible for FEMA or other funding, the necessary prerequisites are in place to apply.”

The declaration also allows the City access to public property during the cleanup.
