Traffic Fatality on Davie Avenue

Statesville, North Carolina | April 15, 2023

On Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 6:10 A.M. the Statesville Police Department responded to a traffic collision involving a pedestrian on Davie Ave near Ramsey Court.  When officers arrived on scene, they located an 18 Y.O.A. male of Statesville, lying in the roadway suffering from injuries sustained from being struck by a motor vehicle.  The 18 Y.O.A. died at the scene.  The vehicle was operated by Shirley Jean Lyalls, 67 of Statesville and was still on scene when officers arrived.  The Statesville Police Department Traffic Unit responded to the scene to investigate the incident.  The preliminary investigation discovered the 18 Y.O.A. male was traveling west on Davie Ave on a skateboard; Lyalls was also traveling west on Davie Ave at the time of the collision. 

The investigation into this collision is still ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Statesville Police Department at 704-878-3406.  Identification of the male is pending notification of immediate family member.
