Leaf Collection Season Has Ended

The City of Statesville’s annual loose-leaf collection program has concluded for the season. Loose-leaf collection will resume in October. Thank you for helping us maintain a clean and beautiful community.

LEAF COLLECTION SEASON

The City of Statesville conducts its annual loose-leaf collection program each year from October through February. Crews follow the established five-area collection schedule, beginning in Area One and continuing sequentially through the remaining areas. The schedule repeats throughout the season to ensure all neighborhoods are covered.

Collection Areas:

  • Area One: South of W. Front Street and west of S. Center Street/Shelton Avenue, including Beechnut, Bristol Road, Wilson Lee Blvd, and neighborhoods along Wallace Springs Road.
  • Area Two: South of E. Broad Street and east of S. Center Street/Shelton Avenue, including E. Raleigh Avenue, Charles Street, Rolling Lane, East Side Drive, Valley Stream Road, East End Avenue, Florence Road, the Statesville Country Club, and Brookmeade.
  • Area Three: North of E. Broad Street and east of I-77, including Camelot Drive, N. Greenbriar Road, Marthas Ridge, Simonton Road, and Mocksville Hwy.
  • Area Four: North of E. Broad Street, between N. Center Street and south of I-77, including Knox Street, Cythina Street, W. End Avenue, Davie Avenue, Sullivan Road, and Museum Road.
  • Area Five: North of W. Front Street and west of N. Center Street, including Gregory Road, Ridgeway Avenue, Phoenix Street, Oakland Avenue, and Mitchell Community College Historic District.

Collection Guidelines:

  • Place leaves at the edge of your yard, just behind the curb.
  • Do not place leaves in the street or on sidewalks.
  • Keep leaf piles free of sticks, limbs, or other debris.
  • Avoid parking vehicles near leaf piles.
  • Keep leaves away from storm drains and water meters.

Please note that loose-leaf collection is weather-dependent. Updates and seasonal details are shared on the City’s website each year prior to the start of the program.

Landscape contractors are responsible for removing any leaf piles they create. Residents should coordinate directly with their contractor as needed.

YARD WASTE

  • Yard waste includes leaves, grass clippings, limbs, and shrubbery. Grass clippings and leaves must be bagged and kept separate from limbs and shrubbery (loose leaves are collected at the back of the curb between the months of October thru February while bagged leaves are collected year-round on the same day as residential garbage pickup).
  • Regular yard waste is collected curbside weekly on the same day as residential garbage pickup.
  • Limbs must be no more than 6 feet long, with a maximum diameter of six inches.
  • Please do not place yard waste in the street.
