Temporary Water Discoloration Notice: What You Need to Know

Last Updated 11/20/2024Posted in Latest City News, Homepage

We want to keep our community informed about two recent events that may have caused temporary discoloration in the water supply. While the water may look unusual, rest assured that there is no contamination, and it remains safe to use.

What Happened?

1️⃣ Tank Maintenance at the Water Plant
This morning, routine tank maintenance was performed at the Water Plant. During this process, sediment in the water lines was stirred up, which may have caused some discoloration for customers.

2️⃣ Valve Work on Winston Avenue
On Monday night, a contractor working on the Municipal Operations Center replaced a valve in the water line on Winston Avenue. This process stirred up sediment in the lines, leading to discolored water in the area. To address this, a hydrant was opened to flush the line.

What You Should Do

If you experience discolored water:

  • Run COLD water in your bathtub until it clears, but no longer than 5 minutes.
  • If the water does not clear up, please contact the Water Maintenance Division for assistance.

Our Water Maintenance Division is here to help:
