A storm pipe repair is scheduled for Thursday, May 15, 2025, near 735 Hartness Road. Work will begin at 9:30 a.m. and is expected to be completed by 4:00 p.m. During this time, traffic will be limited to one-way, with flaggers onsite to guide vehicles safely through the work zone.
Why the Repair is Needed
The roadway in this area has shown signs of subsidence (sinking), raising concerns about a damaged storm pipe and the potential for underground voids or sinkholes. These issues pose a risk to both the structural integrity of the roadway and public safety.
What to Expect During the Repair
The contractor will be performing Deep Soil Injections using polyurethane foam. This advanced method involves injecting foam deep into the ground to:
Increase the load-bearing capacity of the surrounding soils
Fill underground voids and gaps
Minimize erosion
Seal cracks or separations in storm boxes and pipes
The foam will be injected using the “inject and pull” method, which allows for precise and thorough coverage both vertically and laterally. The injections will be conducted in two lines of approximately seven injection points. Work will begin on the north side of the street (near the drain box and lowest elevation) and progress to the south side, ensuring full stabilization of the soil around the pipe.
