As cold weather moves into the area this weekend, a warming shelter will be available in Statesville to help keep individuals safe from dangerously low temperatures.

The Salvation Army, located at 1361 Caldwell Street, will open a warming shelter beginning Saturday at 11 a.m. The shelter will remain open through Tuesday, January 27, providing a safe and warm place for those in need.

The Statesville Police Department has been working closely with Lt. McCormick to help coordinate this effort and ensure resources are available during the impending weather.

Blanket Donations Requested

In addition to the warming shelter, the Statesville Police Department is asking for the community’s help by donating new blankets for individuals who will be utilizing the shelter.

Blanket Drop-Off Location & Times:

  • Statesville Police Department Headquarters Lobby

  • 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

  • Through Friday

Community support plays a vital role in helping protect our most vulnerable residents during severe weather. Thank you to everyone who is able to assist by donating blankets or helping spread the word.
