Scam Alert: Fraudulent Emails Regarding Airport Ribbon Cutting

The City of Statesville has been made aware of a scam targeting local businesses related to the upcoming Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the Statesville Regional Airport on March 26, 2026.

Fraudulent emails are being sent claiming to represent the airport and inviting food vendors to participate in the event.

⚠️ There are NO vendor opportunities associated with this event.
⚠️ The City is NOT collecting vendor fees of any kind.

The scam emails request businesses complete a Google Form and submit payment (approximately $200) to secure a vendor space.

So far, the fraudulent messages have come from Gmail accounts including:

However, additional fake accounts may also be used.

Please Remember:

  • The City of Statesville does not use Gmail accounts for official business.
  • Official City emails will always come from a @statesvillenc.net address.
  • The Google Forms link included in the message is not affiliated with the City.

What To Do:

  • Do not click any links.
  • Do not submit payment.
  • Do not respond to the sender.
  • Report the email as phishing.
  • If you have already submitted payment or information, contact your financial institution immediately.
