Fiber Optic Installation Planned in the Statesville Country Club Area

Last Updated 5/19/2026Posted in Latest City News, Homepage

The City of Statesville has approved a Right-of-Way Encroachment Permit for Zirrus to install underground fiber optic conduit and cable in the Statesville Country Club area.

Federal regulations require public rights-of-way be made available for utilities such as fiber optic infrastructure. The City’s role in this process is limited to permitting, inspection, and oversight to ensure work is completed safely and restored properly. The City does not control construction schedules or promote specific service providers.

Work is scheduled to begin June 1, 2026, and is expected to be completed by June 22, 2026, weather and conditions permitting.

Construction will take place in multiple areas, and residents may notice work along the following streets: Augusta Drive, Deauville Road, Pinehurst Road, East Glen Eagles Road, West Glen Eagles Road, Wentworth Street, Wentworth Place, St. Andrews Road, Brookemeade Drive, Windsor Place, Lancaster Drive, Buckingham Place, Cambridge Place, and Wickersham Drive.

During construction, residents and motorists may notice utility locate markings, construction crews and equipment working in the right-of-way, directional boring operations, and occasional lane shifts or brief traffic delays. Short-term access impacts may occur near active work zones. All disturbed areas will be restored in accordance with City standards.

Tower Engineering Professionals, Inc. (TEP) will be performing the work.
