Trey Robertson

Statesville City Council, At Large

Councilmember Trey Robertson is serving his first term as an At-Large member of the Statesville City Council, bringing a strong foundation of military leadership, engineering expertise, and deep civic involvement to his role. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Trey holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and went on to serve as a Field Artillery Officer in the U.S. Army, including a deployment to Afghanistan. After leaving active duty in 2022, he transitioned to the Army Reserve, where he currently serves as a Battalion Operations Officer.

Robertson believes that effective public service requires being fully engaged in civic life. His extensive community involvement reflects that commitment: he currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Iredell County Board of Adjustments, is a former member of the Statesville Planning Board, and is a current board member and past Chairman of the Downtown Statesville Development Corporation. He is also active at Trinity Episcopal Church, a member of American Legion Post 65 and Friends of Fort Dobbs, an adult leader in his Boy Scout troop, and a supporter of numerous local charitable and civic organizations.

Trey views this period in Statesville’s history as one of the most exciting moments since the arrival of the railroads, with tremendous opportunity ahead. He ran for office believing that the City Council will need technical insight, experienced leadership, and a strong community focus to guide the city’s growth. His priorities include encouraging industry, managing sprawl, and strengthening infrastructure – efforts he believes can be advanced through clear planning and measurable goals. He sees the upcoming Unified Development Code rewrite as the first major step toward equipping the city with the tools needed to support responsible, well-planned growth.

As an At-Large Councilmember, Trey is committed to being highly visible and accessible across all parts of Statesville. He believes the Council must serve as an active and responsive legislative body, providing clear guidance and intent through policy while ensuring that the City Manager and staff have the resources and support necessary to do their work effectively.

A Statesville native, Robertson was born at Davis Hospital and returned home in 2022 after 14 years of military service. In his free time, he enjoys swimming, weightlifting, working on the family farm, and reading history, theology, political philosophy, and economics. He values maintaining an active body and mind and strives to set that example for others in the community.
