Councilmember Lisa Pearson is serving her first term representing Ward Six on the Statesville City Council. Since taking office, she has focused her efforts on historic preservation, housing initiatives, and fostering community connections throughout her ward.
During her tenure, Council member Pearson has been instrumental in establishing the Garfield/Green Street Black Historical District and helping it achieve state-level recognition. She also played a key role in creating the Statesville African American Heritage Preservation Commission, which promotes awareness and protection of the city’s rich cultural history. Pearson serves as a liaison to both the Downtown Statesville Development Corporation and the Historic Preservation Commission and has contributed to the establishment of a housing fund designed to expand access to housing opportunities within the city.
Her current priorities include securing national recognition for the Garfield/Green Street Black Historical District and helping residents in the area access grants and resources to preserve and enhance their neighborhood. Pearson is also dedicated to connecting the Depot Hill area to downtown in ways that reflect Statesville’s character and strengthen its visual and economic appeal.
Councilmember Pearson believes that effective public service begins with strong relationships – both within city departments and across the community. She remains accessible to residents, listening to their concerns, attending local events, and keeping citizens informed about city projects and initiatives.
Inspired by her desire to make a tangible difference, Pearson takes pride in seeing positive change within her community and strives to ensure that progress benefits all residents. Outside of her work with the Council, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and relaxing with a good TV show.
