Work continues on the Newtonville Community Park Revitalization Project. The contractor's initial pickleball court resurfacing did not meet project expectations and will be redone. Resurfacing work is expected to take place within the next two weeks. Once the court surface is complete, perimeter fencing will be installed around the pickleball courts.
Additional improvements remain in progress throughout the park. Upcoming work includes installation of split rail fencing, development of the parking lot, design and installation of the disc golf course, and the addition of a walking trail. These improvements will continue to enhance recreational opportunities and accessibility within the park.
The playground installation at Newtonville Community Park is complete. Staff is finishing grading work and preparing the area for grass. Additional improvements are still underway, including fence installation, before the park area officially opens to the public. Staff is also coordinating with the contractor on disc golf design and continuing planning efforts for parking and walking trails.
Key Features
These proposed improvements will increase the park’s variety of amenities, transforming an underused space into a hub for recreation, relaxation, and community gatherings.
Funding Sources
This project is funded by the City of Statesville, reflecting the City’s continued commitment to investing in parks and public spaces that enhance residents’ quality of life.
Potential Disruptions
During construction, portions of the park and nearby greenway connections may be temporarily closed to ensure safety and allow crews to complete work efficiently. Signage and detours will be clearly posted in advance, and updates will be shared as the project progresses. The City appreciates residents’ patience as these improvements are made.
