Hurricane Preparedness Week (May 4-10, 2025)

As hurricane season approaches (June 1 - November 30, 2025), it's important to make sure that you and your family are prepared for any potential storms that may come your way. The City of Statesville urges residents to plan now for hurricane season and potential severe weather by following these tips to help you get ready:

  2. Create an emergency kit
  3. Secure your home
  4. Plan for evacuation
  5. Protect important documents
  6. Have a communication plan

🔹 Police Officer (Full-Time): This position performs intermediate protective service work involving a variety of general or support duty police assignments; does related work as required. Work is performed under the supervision of Patrol Corporals and Sergeants.

🔹 Lifeguard (Seasonal): This position ensures the safety in and around the water by preventing and responding to emergencies. Supervise all the activities performed in and around the pool area.

A North Carolina drought monitor map dated June 2, 2026, shows drought conditions across the state. Much of central and northern North Carolina remains in severe to extreme drought, indicated by orange and red shading. Areas of western North Carolina and portions of the coastal region are experiencing moderate drought, shown in tan. A small area in the southeastern corner of the state remains in extreme drought. The map includes drought classification categories ranging from abnormally dry (D0) to exceptional drought (D4), along with logos from the USDA, NDMC, NOAA, and other monitoring agencies.
