Public Hearing Notice: Proposed Charter Amendment on Election Method and Council Terms

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENT ORDINANCE

The public will take notice that the City Council of the City of Statesville will conduct a public hearing at Statesville City Hall at 301 South Center Street at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025, as set forth in Chapter 667 of the 1959 Session Laws of North Carolina, as amended, to: (a) change the method of electing the mayor and the members of the City of Statesville City Council to nonpartisan plurality elections; and (b) ratify the action of the City Council to provide that the at-large seats of the Statesville City Council to be elected for four-year terms on a staggered basis, starting with the election of the two members in November of 2025 in the manner as set forth in Section 2 of Ordinance 31-24.
