Last Updated 5/22/2025Posted in Statesville Public Power, Latest City News, Homepage

The City of Statesville is proud to announce that Jared Wiles, Assistant Director for Statesville Public Power, has officially earned his North Carolina Certified Economic Developer (NCCED) designation.

This prestigious certification, awarded through the North Carolina Economic Development Association (NCEDA), is a significant milestone that reflects Jared’s long-term commitment to professional growth and economic advancement in our region. The program spans several years and includes a rigorous curriculum, a Capstone paper, and an oral presentation. Jared completed these requirements while balancing full-time work, including his current leadership role with the City of Statesville.

Jared will be officially recognized during the 2025 NCEDA Annual Conference in June, where he will receive his certificate and lapel pin.

Cody Leis, Director of Statesville Public Power, shared his praise for Jared’s achievement: “I want to commend Jared for earning his certification while working full time. This achievement will be a big asset for Statesville Public Power, especially when working with large customers and communicating effectively with ElectriCities and the Iredell Economic Development team.”

Jared’s NCCED certification strengthens Statesville’s position in regional economic development efforts and enhances our ability to serve existing and future utility customers with a deeper understanding of their needs.

We are proud of Jared’s dedication and leadership and look forward to the continued impact he will have on Statesville’s growth and success.
