National Waste and Recycling Workers Week

June 16-24, 2025

WHEREAS, the cleanliness, health, and safety of our community depend greatly on the commitment and service of waste and recycling workers who work year-round to manage our refuse and recyclables; and

WHEREAS, these dedicated professionals provide a vital public service by collecting, processing, and properly disposing of waste materials, contributing significantly to environmental stewardship and public health; and

WHEREAS, the work performed by waste and recycling personnel is physically demanding and often carried out in difficult and sometimes hazardous conditions, yet it remains essential to the daily functioning and quality of life in the City of Statesville; and

WHEREAS, National Waste and Recycling Workers Week is a time to recognize and thank these often-unsung heroes for the important role they play in maintaining a cleaner, safer and more sustainable community; and

WHEREAS, the City of Statesville proudly supports the efforts of these workers and remains committed to ensuring their safety and well-being while celbrating their contributions to our city; 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CONSTANTINE H. KUTTEH, Mayor of the City of Statesville, North Carolina, do hereby proclaim the week of June 16-24, 2025, as National Waste and Recycling Workers Week in the City of Statesville and encourage all residents to join in expressing their gratitude and appreciation for the hard work and dedication of waste and recycling workers who serve our community. 

IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have set my Hand and cause the Great Seal of the City of Statesville to be affixed this 16th day of June 2025.
