New Public Art Installation “Wishes” Unveiled in Statesville

The Statesville Community Appearance Commission is proud to announce the installation of a new public art sculpture, “Wishes,” by nationally recognized artist Adam Walls.

Located on Hartness Road near the intersection of N. Center Street, the sculpture adds a touch of whimsy and imagination to a highly visible gateway into the city.

Walls shared the inspiration behind the piece: “Wishes is titled and designed after the dandelion seeds that my sons enjoy blowing into the air. They make wishes when they blow them, and so, that’s what we call them now… wishes.”

Walls holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education from Limestone College and a Master of Fine Arts from Winthrop University. He has been an Art Professor at UNC-Pembroke for 17 years and is an active member of both the College Art Association and TriState Sculptors. His large-scale sculptures are featured in public spaces throughout the United States, inviting interaction and reflection.

“Wishes” is part of Statesville’s ongoing commitment to enhancing public spaces through art and creative expression. Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to visit the sculpture, take a moment to reflect, and maybe even make a wish of their own.
