October 5 - 11, 2025 marks Public Power Week, a nationwide celebration recognizing the more than 2,000 communities across the United States that are powered by public power. Here in Statesville, we’re proud to hold a special place in history as North Carolina’s first Public Power Community. Since the early days of bringing electricity to our citizens, we’ve remained committed to providing safe, reliable, and community-focused electric service.

Our Legacy of Public Power

The City of Statesville was the very first municipality in North Carolina to provide electric service to its residents.
