Water Main Break on Green Street

Last Updated 10/8/2025Posted in Public Utilities, Latest City News, Homepage

Earlier today, a contractor working on boring underground cable struck a water main on Green Street. Statesville Water Maintenance crews quickly responded and isolated the leak; however, a valve broke shut in the process.

As a result, residents in the following areas are currently without water service: Green Street, Sharpe Street, Newton Avenue, and Broadway Court.
The repair will take several hours to complete and may extend into the early morning hours. Crews are working in the intersection of Broadway and Green Street, and others in the surrounding area may experience low water pressure during this time.

Once the repair is made and water service is restored, residents may notice discolored or cloudy water caused by sediment in the lines. This is normal after a water main repair. To help clear your lines, run cold water from your bathtub for about five minutes.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while crews work to restore service as quickly and safely as possible.
