Stormwater Fee Update Begins in the City of Statesville January 1, 2026

Last Updated 10/23/2025Posted in Stormwater, Latest City News, Homepage

Keeping Statesville’s stormwater system strong and reliable is an important part of protecting our homes, streets, and local waterways from flooding and pollution. As many of the City’s storm drains and pipes get older and the cost of materials and repairs continues to rise, an adjustment to the stormwater fee is needed to keep up with maintenance and improvements. Beginning January 1, 2026, the monthly Stormwater Utility Fee will increase by $1.50 per Equivalent Residential Unit (ERU) - from $4.70 to $6.20 per ERU.

Here’s what that means:

  • Single-family homes: $6.20 per month
  • Commercial and industrial properties: $6.20 for every 3,050 square feet of impervious surface (like rooftops, driveways, and parking lots)

Example bills:

  • Single-family home: $4.70 → $6.20
  • Commercial property (5 ERUs): $23.50 → $31.00
  • Industrial property (10 ERUs): $47.00 → $62.00

The stormwater fee helps fund important work like repairing damaged pipes, improving drainage, and keeping stormwater systems working properly across the city. For more information, visit www.statesvillenc.net/statesville-stormwater-management or call the Stormwater Hotline at 866-417-8676.
