National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day 2026

WHEREAS, Law Enforcement Officers serve communities across the nation with professionalism, dedication, and courage, working tirelessly to protect life, property, and the constitutional rights of all citizens; and

WHEREAS, these men and women routinely place themselves in harm's way to maintain public safety, often making personal sacrifices while responding to emergencies, preventing crime, and supporting victims; and

WHEREAS, the Statesville Police Department is comprised of dedicated sworn officers and professional staff who serve the City of Statesville with integrity, commitment, and a strong sense of duty, working every day to keep our community safe; and

WHEREAS, the City of Statesville recognizes the essential role of the Statesville Police Department and all law enforcement officers in fostering safe neighborhoods, strengthening community trust, and enhancing the quality of life for residents, businesses, and visitors; and

WHEREAS, National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day provides an opportunity for communities to express gratitude, respect, and support for law enforcement officers and their families; and

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Doug Hendrix, Mayor of the City of Statesville, North Carolina, do hereby proclaim January 9 as National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day in the City of Statesville, and encourage all residents to take time to recognize and thank members of the Statesville Police Department and law enforcement officers everywhere for their service, commitment, and dedication to protecting our community.
