NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING THE REAUTHORIZATION OF THE CITY OF STATESVILLE DOWNTOWN MUNICIPAL SERVICE DISTRICT

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Statesville will hold a public hearing on June 1, 2026, at 6:00 PM in the Council Chambers at 227 S. Center St to consider the reauthorization of the Statesville Downtown Municipal Service District.

Purpose: The purpose of the Downtown MSD is to provide additional services, including downtown event programming and promotions; enhanced cleanliness and maintenance; public space and streetscape improvements; business recruitment, retention, and support; marketing and branding of downtown; and initiatives that support economic vitality and occupancy in the district, to the downtown area, financed by an additional property tax.

Proposed Service District Boundaries: The proposed district boundaries will remain unchanged from the 2021 reauthorization and include properties located generally along and between Broad Street, Center Street, Front Street, Meeting Street, David Street, and Tradd Street, extending from Stockton Street on the north to McElwee Street on the south, and from Mulberry Street on the west to Salisbury Road on the east.

A map depicting the exact boundaries of the district is available for public inspection in the Office of the City Clerk. In the event of any inconsistency, the official map shall control.

Proposed Tax Rate: It is proposed that a tax of $0.10 per $100 valuation be levied on all taxable property within the district to finance these services for the 2026-27 fiscal year. This is the same rate as the 2025-26 fiscal year.

All interested persons are invited to attend the public hearing and be heard.

Emily Kurfees, City Clerk
