The presentation focused on ongoing infrastructure improvements, strategic planning initiatives, and the airport’s growing role in supporting regional economic development.

Ferguson highlighted several key topics, including:

  • Recent Improvements: Updates on the new terminal building, airfield upgrades, and taxiway rehabilitation projects currently underway or recently completed. These projects are designed to enhance safety, increase capacity, and improve the overall experience for both pilots and passengers.
  • Airport Layout Plan (ALP): The revised ALP outlines the long-term vision for the airport’s development, including plans for expanded hangar space, improved access roads, and potential commercial aviation capabilities. Ferguson explained how the plan aligns with FAA standards and supports sustainable growth.
  • Economic Impact: Ferguson shared how the airport continues to serve as an economic engine for the region, attracting new businesses and supporting existing industries. The airport’s strategic location and facilities make it a valuable asset for corporate and general aviation.
  • Future Goals: Plans to pursue additional federal and state funding, accommodate larger aircraft, and enhance customer services were also discussed. Ferguson emphasized the city’s commitment to making the airport a top-tier regional facility.

The presentation provided council members and the public with a clear picture of the airport’s trajectory and its importance to the community’s infrastructure and economy.
