Water Main Break and Street Closure on Davie Avenue

Last Updated 7/28/2025Posted in Latest City News, Homepage

UPDATE: July 28, 2025 at 2:55pm

Crews have completed repairs to the damaged water main on Davie Avenue, and water service has been restored to affected customers in the area.

Due to the size and impact of the break, the water system was heavily stirred, which may cause discolored water over the next few days. Water Maintenance crews will continue directional flushing in the area to remove as much sediment as possible.

If you notice dirty water:

  • Run cold water from a faucet or outdoor spigot for several minutes to help clear the line.
  • If the issue persists, contact the Water Department at 704-878-3417.

Davie Avenue remains closed between N. Green Street and Park Street, but it is expected to reopen within the next couple of hours as cleanup continues.

We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation throughout this repair. Thank you for allowing our crews the time and space to complete this work safely and effectively.
