Road Closures Scheduled for Tree Removal on East Broad Street and Davie Avenue

The previously postponed tree removal at 242 East Broad Street has been rescheduled and is expected to begin at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, July 6. East Broad Street between Tradd Street and Green Street will be closed from 7:30 a.m. until approximately 4:00 p.m. as crews safely remove a large tree. If work is completed as scheduled on Monday, crews will move to a second tree removal project on Tuesday.

Davie Avenue will be closed from 7:30 a.m. until approximately 4:00 p.m. while crews remove an extreme hazard tree located at 642 Davie Avenue. Multiple crews and specialized equipment, including a crane, have been scheduled to complete both projects as efficiently as possible. If additional time is needed, the crane has been reserved through Wednesday to allow work to be safely completed.

Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes, follow posted detour routes, and allow extra travel time while work is underway.

East Broad Street between Tradd Street and Green Street will be closed on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The closure is necessary to allow crews to safely remove a large tree in the area.

Traffic will be detoured around the work zone. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes and allow extra travel time.
