What is Waste & Recycling Workers Week?

This is a special week set aside to celebrate our Waste & Recycling Workers!   Join us in thanking the hard-working employees of the City’s Sanitation Department who work daily to keep our neighborhoods and streets clean!

Most of us just forget about garbage once we throw it away.  Can you imagine what our City would look like without the Sanitation team?  They keep Statesville clean and beautiful every day by picking up and properly disposing of everything we throw out and set at our curbs!  In addition to solid waste and recycling, they are responsible for the collection of yard debris, appliances, bulky waste, and loose leaves.

Want to help us celebrate? Here are a few ideas!

Got a big pile after your spring cleaning efforts? How about meeting them at the curb and helping them lift it in.  A little kindness goes a long way to show we are aware of their efforts.

It’s easy to complain when things are not done right.  Consider calling with a word of thanks and appreciation for all the weeks they do their job well!

Leave a note to say thanks along with a cold bottle of water!

Follow the rules!  It makes their job run smoothly when everyone places their toter on the curb in the right direction!  Sometimes it's the small things that matter most!
