Construction continues on the Stockton Street and Alexander Street Sidewalk Project, with significant progress made along Alexander Street.
On Alexander Street, sidewalk installation has been completed from the intersection of Alexander Street and Deaton Street to the intersection of Alexander Street and North Lackey Street. Crews are continuing sidewalk construction down the hill toward Nursery Lane. Tree removal is ongoing where necessary to accommodate the project, and stumps that interfered with the sidewalk ramp at the corner of Alexander Street and North Lackey Street have been removed.
On Stockton Street, tree removal activities have begun in preparation for construction. Sidewalk installation along this portion of the project is expected to begin within the next two weeks.
This project is currently scheduled to begin March 2026. Construction timing is dependent on weather conditions, as certain phases of the work require consistently warm temperatures.
If an extended period of warmer weather is forecast and realized, the contractor may be able to begin work sooner. At this time, colder winter temperatures remain the primary factor limiting an earlier start.
Additional updates will be shared as the project start date approaches or if conditions allow for an earlier mobilization.
Location: Stockton Street from Holland Drive to Brookdale Drive and Alexander Street from Deaton Street to Nursery Lane
