Statesville Fire Station 5

Construction of Fire Station 5 continues to move toward completion. Installation of the apparatus bay is complete, and spray foam insulation is scheduled to be installed during the first week of June. Electrical work in the apparatus bay is approximately 50% complete, and garage door installation is underway.

Inside the station, the bathroom upfit is complete, and all remaining house upfits have been finished with the exception of the kitchen countertops. Painting is expected to wrap up this week, and bedroom furniture has been assembled and placed in the rooms. Cleaning of the facility has also begun, and the Station Alert system is currently being installed.

Outside the building, gutters have been connected and preparations are underway for the installation of river rock once conditions allow. The brush pile has been removed by the Sanitation Division. Appliances are expected to be delivered within the next two weeks as the project moves closer to completion.

A ribbon cutting ceremony for Fire Station 5 has been scheduled for June 30, 2026, at 10 a.m. The public is invited to attend and tour the new facility. Learn more here.

Major progress continues at Fire Station 5. Grading and all concrete work have been completed, and the bathroom upfit is nearing completion. Most house upfit work has also been finished, with only the kitchen tile and countertops remaining. Painting is wrapping up, and electrical and plumbing upgrades have been completed. The house has now been connected to City water and sewer service, and the generator has been installed. The crawlspace work has also been completed with new insulation added. The apparatus bay is currently in production. Gutters have been installed, appliances have been ordered, and bedroom furniture is scheduled to arrive in May.

Site work continues at Fire Station 5. The old well has been filled in, and stump grinding is scheduled for this week. Grading is expected to begin in two weeks, weather permitting. The house upfit is scheduled to begin in early March.

Some electrical work has been completed, with remaining work to be finished in the coming weeks. The crawlspace has been cleaned out and will be finalized after grading and gutter installation are complete.

Chief Kurfees has submitted the building bid and expects to receive the purchase order this week. Fire Department administration is currently working on furniture and appliance orders.

The roof installation on the station house has been completed. Grading bids have been sent out and opened, and the contract has been awarded to Bell Construction. Crews will begin grading work as soon as weather conditions allow.

Interior and exterior house upfit work is expected to begin in late February or early March as the project continues moving into the next phase.

Project Phases

Bidding for house upgrades has been completed. Roof replacement is scheduled to begin in January or February 2026, followed by additional house construction beginning in March 2026. Bidding for grading and concrete work is anticipated to go out in mid-January 2026.

Residents may experience minor road delays during periods of concrete work, culvert replacement, and grading activities.
