The new terminal building at the Statesville Regional Airport reached a major milestone with the issuance of a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) on December 19, 2025.
All major construction tasks have been completed. A small number of minor items remain, including installation of metal panels needed to wrap exterior columns. These panels had a longer lead time and are expected to be installed once received.

Construction of the new Statesville Regional Airport Terminal Building continues to move forward, with the contractor targeting substantial completion by December 15, 2025. Once the project reaches substantial completion, the City of Statesville will be granted a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO), allowing the building to begin limited operations.
Final punch list items are expected to be completed between late January and early February 2026.
There are a few areas of the project that are awaiting custom metal panels with extended lead times. These panels are strictly cosmetic and will not impact the issuance of the final Certificate of Occupancy.
Pending final completion, the City of Statesville is hopeful to host an official grand opening toward the end of February 2026.
The Statesville Regional Airport Terminal Building Project is nearing completion, with major milestones now in sight. The final lift of asphalt has been installed in the parking lot, marking one of the last major exterior construction activities.
The project is on track for substantial completion by mid-December. Although metal panels for the lobby and exterior columns have been delayed until early February 2026, this delay will not affect the Certificate of Completion or the building’s readiness for opening.
A plaque unveiling ceremony for City Council is currently scheduled for December 1, 2025, with an official Grand Opening event planned for mid to late January 2026.

Construction of the new Statesville Regional Airport Terminal Building is making steady progress. Most of the brickwork on the building is nearly finished, and crews are continuing with work around the site. Workers are installing support materials for the rooftop walls, and the large glass curtain walls and front windows are also being built.
The transformer and underground systems that will power the building are in place, and the second elevator shaft is mostly complete. Inside, framing for the rooms and offices is coming along well. Ventilation for the first-floor bathrooms is being installed, and the stairwells are starting to take shape. One of the biggest tasks right now is finishing the rough installation of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems on the first floor. Outside, crews plan to finish preparing the parking lot curbs this week. The project team has also reviewed inspection requirements to stay on track.
Because of delays in getting some of the metal panels needed for the exterior, the expected completion date has been moved to December 18, 2025.
