Statesville, NC – Statesville Public Power has once again earned national recognition for excellence in electric utility operations, achieving the prestigious Diamond-level Reliable Public Power Provider RP3 designation from the American Public Power Association.

As part of this designation, Statesville Public Power received a score of 100, reflecting strong performance across all evaluated categories. The RP3 designation is among the highest honors a public power utility can receive and recognizes demonstrated excellence in reliability, safety, workforce development, and system improvement.

Earning the Diamond level places Statesville Public Power among the top-performing public power utilities in the nation.

In addition to the RP3 designation, Statesville Public Power was also awarded the American Public Power Association’s Diamond-level Safety Award for 2025, the highest distinction in the association’s safety recognition program. This award reflects an outstanding commitment to employee safety, comprehensive training programs, and a strong culture of safe work practices.

Director Cody Leis and Assistant Director Jared Wiles accepted the awards at the American Public Power Association Engineering & Operations Conference and Safety Summit.

“This recognition reflects the consistency and dedication of our team across every part of our operation,” said Cody Leis, Director of Statesville Public Power. “From reliability and safety to training and system improvements, our employees take pride in the work they do every day to serve our community.”

Together, these honors highlight Statesville Public Power’s continued leadership in the public power industry and its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and efficient electric service to the residents and businesses of Statesville.

The American Public Power Association has offered the RP3 designation for more than 20 years and represents not-for-profit, community-owned utilities that serve approximately 55 million people nationwide.
