Ron Smith, City Manager

Ron Smith serves as the City Manager for the City of Statesville.

He was appointed by City Council in June 2018. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and has more than 30 years of experience in local government.

Over his career, Ron has worked in city, county, and regional government organizations, as well as a local government consultant. He is a member of the International City/County Management Association and the North Carolina City and County Managers Association. Ron has lived in Statesville with his wife and three children for 16 years.

"My goal as the City Manager is to build the best team possible to provide exemplary services to our residents. Statesville is seeing tremendous growth, and it is up to me and the city staff to give the Mayor and City Council the tools and information they need to make good decisions about how, when, and where that growth occurs."

Ron provides an update to the Statesville City Council at the first meeting of each month. These updates cover project updates, employment changes, promotions, departmental news, key upcoming dates, and much more.
