SPD Investigating Shots Fired at Crossroads Drive Walmart – One Arrest Made

Statesville, NC – On Sunday, June 29, 2025, at approximately 1:35 p.m., officers with the Statesville Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the parking lot of Walmart, located at 1116 Crossroads Drive.
Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle in the parking lot that had been struck by gunfire. Several shell casings were also found at the scene. After speaking with witnesses and reviewing video surveillance footage, investigators identified a suspect vehicle that had already fled the area. Prior to the shooting, the suspects had been involved in a shoplifting larceny inside the store.
The Statesville Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division responded and began an active investigation. A short time later, the suspect vehicle was located at a residence, where one of the individuals involved was still present.
Keandre Terrell Cauthen, 18, of Statesville, was taken into custody without incident. He has been charged with one (1) count of Discharging a Firearm into Occupied Property and one count of Misdemeanor Larceny.
Cauthen received a $100,000 secured bond. At this time, a second suspect involved in the incident has not yet been identified.
