Municipal Clerk Week

May 4-10, 2025

WHEREAS, the Office of the Municipal Clerk, a time honored and vital part of local government exists throughout the world, and

WHEREAS, the Office of the Municipal Clerk is the oldest public servant position and the only statutorily mandated role within local government in North Carolina, and

WHEREAS, the Office of the Municipal Clerk provides the professional link between the citizens, the local governing bodies and agencies of government at other levels, and 

WHEREAS, the Municipal Clerk is a key resource for information regarding local government operations and community matters, and 

WHEREAS, it is most appropriate that we recognize the accomplishments of the Office of the Municipal Clerk, and

THEREFORE, I, Constantine H. Kutteh, Mayor of Statesville, proclaim May 4th through 10th, 2025, as Municipal Clerk Week in Statesville, and extend our appreciation to our City Clerk, Emily Kurfees, for her outstanding dedication and invaluable services she provides to our community.
